We have no auditions and we always welcome new members. SUMMARY:Chippenham Film Club- September 2025 Screening 'Bird'
DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Film Club was formed in 2022 to bring films to the town that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. Screenings will be on the second Monday of each month at The Reel cinema in Chippenham – you do not need to be a club member to attend\, but if you pay the annual membership fee\, there is a 35% discount off entry to all Chippenham Film Club screenings. \nThe club is run by a small group of volunteers\, with stewarding provided by the Reel Cinema staff. The monthly screening films on the programme are all selected by the members\, and all are films which have not been shown locally or received wide exposure nationally. \nThis month’s film is ‘Bird’ (15 certificate) Bird is a 2024 drama film written and directed by Andrea Arnold and starring Nykiya Adams in her debut role\, alongside Barry Keoghan (Chernobyl\, Saltburn\, Banshees of Inisherin)\, and Franz Rogowski (Transit\, Passages\, Great Freedom\, Disco Boy). Bailey (Adams) lives with her brother Hunter and her father Bug (Keoghan)\, who raises them alone in a squat in northern Kent\, Bug doesn’t have much time to devote to them. Bailey meets an eccentric\, troubled guy called Bird (Rogowski) and while everything else in her life is alienating\, her friendship with Bird provides her with some degree of stability. \nAlthough Bird was largely overlooked by the main award ceremonies\, Arnold did receive BAFTA and Palme d’ Or nominations\, Adams also received a number of nominations for her incredible debut performance.

Out of 10?\nThis meet up is a talking and listen club for men aged 18 and over.\nThis group meets the 2nd Monday of each month – upstairs at The Waverley. \nWhat’s it about?\nA Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains.\nCaptains are trained to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. \nThese groups are held in person in a safe and quiet space so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel\, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why. \nDepending on the number of men attending\, sessions last a maximum of two hours.

This is an opportunity for you to explore some of the amazing documents in the Wiltshire and Swindon Archive collections in a friendly and informal setting. \nThe group meets every other month on a Saturday\, led by Community History Advisor Gianna Torchia. Each hour-long session will focus on an original document that will be explored and discussed to reveal the creative side of archives through the stories of people\, places or events. Gianna hopes to inspire members to get creative using information from the original documents. DESCRIPTION:Love to sing? \nThe Village Singers are a community choir with members of all ages coming from the villages and towns around Chippenham. We have no auditions and we always welcome new members. We have been making music together since 2011. \nWe are united by our love of music and our love of fun but also through many shared emotional experiences. SUMMARY:Trio Paradis Café Concert: The Music of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with a pop-up café from c10.30 where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nSeptember’s music is inspired by trees and forests\, with music by Sibelius (Birch and Fir trees\, among others)\, Massenet (Lime Trees) and a forest scene from a Rimsky-Korsakov opera. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection.
