DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: a 45-minute concert of mainly classical music\, introduced by the performers. There is a pop-up café from 10.15am where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nOur first programme of 2026 is a varied collection of music by composers of African origin\, from Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George\, who was a contemporary of Mozart\, to 20th century composers\, in particular from North America. \nThere’s no need to book\, though an RSVP via our website is appreciated. DESCRIPTION:FOR AGES 18+ \nDrama Workshops with their basis in improvisation and devising\, but including script. \n‘The most fun I have all week’ \nMondays in 5 week blocks at the Cause Arts Centre\, Causeway Chippenham\nImprovers 7.30 – 9pm (Beginners 6 -7.30pm) \nFor those who’ve been coming to us for a while\, or who like to move a bit faster\, this session is for you. \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not always be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. \nWe’ll also be developing some scenes and creating longer pieces\, so be prepared. DESCRIPTION:Take a break from the everyday and enjoy painting cosy homes and beautiful gardens in watercolour. In this relaxed\, therapeutic workshop\, you’ll have the freedom to paint a scene that combines buildings and nature — whether that’s a charming house\, a garden view\, or a favourite place where the two meet. \nYou might choose to paint cottages\, townhouses\, or garden buildings alongside flowers\, leafy borders\, winding paths\, fences\, pots\, benches\, and sun-dappled trees. Whether it’s your own home or garden\, a place you love to visit\, or a scene from your imagination\, you’ll be gently guided to create a painting that captures the mood and character of that space. \nWe’ll explore easy\, approachable watercolour techniques for buildings\, foliage\, flowers\, and textures\, with supportive guidance on composition\, colour\, and capturing light. You’re welcome to work in a loose\, expressive way or take a more detailed approach — this workshop is about finding what feels right for you. \nThis session is beginner-friendly and low-pressure\, designed to encourage enjoyment and experimentation rather than technical perfection. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll have created your own watercolour painting to frame\, gift\, or keep as a personal memento\, along with an Introduction to Watercolour booklet to help you continue painting at home. \nWe’ll have exclusive use of The Waverley’s spacious main upstairs room\, and a complimentary drink of your choice is included in your ticket. \nAll materials are provided (or feel free to bring your own favourites). No prior experience is needed — just curiosity\, a love of homes and gardens\, and a willingness to have a go!

DESCRIPTION:Calling all performers aged 13 and up (including adults) \nA NEW performance company for young people and adults. \nWe spent time in June 2025 exploring ideas and working together to see what sort of work we all wanted to create and this will now be followed by a 9 week rehearsal period from Saturday 27th September\, followed by an intensive rehearsal period in January 2026 finishing a performance on Feb 7th 2026 (Venue – TBC – as we’ll come up with that together). \nWhether you’re a seasoned actor or just starting out\, why not showcase your talent and connect with like-minded locals? It may be that you prefer to be backstage or help with the design and production. SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshops: 16-18 Year Olds
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of local antiquarian and famous biographer\, John Aubrey. Open to young people aged 16-18\, these free workshops offer the chance to develop your writing skills and see your work in print. \nAubrey was an archaeologist\, scientist\, and historian who\, from a young age\, collected stories and local legends from people across Wiltshire. He used these to create a series of mini-biographies collectively known as Brief Lives. \nInspired by Aubrey’s work\, participants will use the museum’s collection of portraits\, taken by local photographers in the 1900s\, as creative prompts to write their own ‘brief life’ for these anonymous figures. \nAn experienced writer will lead the workshops\, helping young people develop their skills and explore new writing forms and genres\, including: \nPoetry and lyric writing\nDramatic monologues and short scripts\nShort stories and flash fiction\nThe project is supported by the Friends of Chippenham Museum and will conclude with a special celebration of the work produced\, including a printed publication. \nThese workshops are free\, but spaces are limited\, so booking is essential. DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Art Group meets monthly on Wednesdays in St Paul’s Church Hall\, Greenway Lane\, Chippenham. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nProjects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection. No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace.
