DESCRIPTION:Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests – you play Hockey while walking – and is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the sport\, but still enjoy participating\, showing their skills and being involved in the team and social aspect of the sport. \nThe game is played on a smaller pitch with lighter balls and rules adapted for safety and accessibility. \nWe operate a weekly social mixed game at 6pm on Monday evenings all year round. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome. There’s always laughter and quite often the chance for a social drink afterwards if you feel like it!

DESCRIPTION:Join our welcoming\, all-inclusive group of men and women for Walking Rugby\, a fun\, low-impact version of the sport that’s great for all ages and fitness levels. \nWhat is Walking Rugby?\nIn Walking Rugby there are no scrums\, lineouts\, rucks or mauls. To make a tackle\, simply touch the ball carrier with two hands – the ball carrier must then stop and pass the ball to another player on their team.\nNo-one keeps score\, instead the emphasis is on enjoyable and social rugby for all.\nFor more information see the RFU’s video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAdPp6FS2q4 \nWhat do I need?\nAll you need is sports wear\, studded boots (don’t worry if you don’t have any we have some we can lend you some) as we normally play on our artificial pitch\, and a bottle of water (believe us you will need it!)\, and remember …..we are WALKING! \nWhen and Where?\nWe meet every Friday at Chippenham Rugby Club\, 6.30pm until 7.30pm. We join up with other local rugby clubs on a regular basis to share enjoyable evenings of rugby and socialising\, and also attend festivals hosted by other clubs which includes at least one each year where we are “on tour” \nIf you want to join in whether you have played before or are new to rugby and whatever your gender\, please drop David Cowan an email on walkers@chippenhamrfc.co.uk and he will coordinate. \nCome and give it a ‘Try’!!! \n

DESCRIPTION:This spring\, Chippenham Museum Photo Club will be heading out and about to explore the local wildlife. From riverscapes to wildflower meadows\, there is so much to see and enjoy in and around our town\, and the group will be busy on their club nights capturing the wild and wonderful with their cameras. \nLed by experienced photographer Steve Jones from The Little Photo Company\, Photo Club will be running two special edition sessions. Would you like to join in? \nSession 1: Wednesday 8 April\, 2pm – 3.30pm\nThe group will be heading to Westmead Open Space\, a wonderful wildlife hotspot. We will spend an afternoon exploring this beautiful riverside green\, space managed by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. \nSession 2: Wednesday 20 May\, 4.30pm – 5.30pm\nThe group will be exploring Vincients Wood\, a semi-natural broadleaved woodland\, managed by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. \nAs well as developing practical camera skills\, we will investigate the areas and learn more about our local wildlife and natural environment. \nThese special one-off sessions are free and open to any young person aged 11-17. No photography experience is needed. All cameras are welcome\, including mobile phones\, and a club camera is available to borrow if required. \nYou will also have the opportunity to have your work celebrated in a public exhibition during Chippenham’s Eco Future Fest on Sunday 14 June. Eco Future Fest is a community festival celebrating our natural world and all things sustainable. The event will take place at Chippenham Town Hall from 11am to 4pm. \nPlaces are limited\, so booking via Eventbrite is essential.

DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Chippenham and Calne\nClassic Car and Bike Run\nSunday 17th May 2026 \nOur carefully composed routes are changed every year. Drivers or riders pass through Wiltshire countryside\, with highlights like Silbury Hill and Avebury Stone Circle: that is why many of our drivers return year on year. It will be lovely to have you back\, or maybe joining us for the first time. \nThis year’s Classic Car and Bike Run takes place on Sunday 17th May and will follow a 70 mile. \nClassic Cars and Bikes start arriving at 8.00 am at Calne Leisure Centre\, SN11 0SP Car Park\, with breakfast provided by Calne Lions. The best opportunity for the public to see all the cars and wave them off at the start is between 8.00 am and 10.00 am at Calne Leisure Centre. The morning coffee stop is at the Treehouse Café in the beautiful Bowood Estate\, and the finish is at Sheldon School\, Chippenham SN14 6HJ\, with lunch available. \nDogs are welcome (on a short lead)\, and of course there are prizes for the Best Dressed Driver/Passengers\, Cutest Dog\, President’s Favourite Car\, and the best Teddy or other much loved toy. \nThe event is open to cars\, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles that are 25 years or older. The number of entrants will be limited to 100 to prevent bunching on the route and to facilitate parking both before the run and at the coffee stop.
