DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Art Group meets monthly on Wednesdays in St Paul’s Church Hall\, Greenway Lane\, Chippenham. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nProjects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection. No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas. \nFamily carers are welcome at the group as full members and encouraged to join in to create their own pieces of art. \nIf you’d like to come along as a group member\, or for more information\, please call Pam on 01380 739055\, or to register your interest please use the form below. \nThis group is kindly part-funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly music event in Chippenham fundraising for Dorothy House Hospice in Wiltshire celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2026 – for October we have an extra special guest artist from Canada! \nOn Tuesday 20th October\, we are delighted and honoured to be hosting Canadian musician\, David Celia\, as part of his Autumn 2026 solo UK tour for this month’s Dorothy House Hospice Album Listening Event fundraiser at The Old Road Tavern in Chippenham. \nAs usual everyone is welcome\, drop in to the barn and sample the great music on offer for as long as you like. There is no entry fee but any voluntary donations (cash\, card or online) to the work of the Hospice will be gratefully received. \nDavid will play two live sets for us and we will listen to his 2015 vinyl album ‘Double Mind’ in full. David also chose Neil Young’s 1974 LP ‘On The Beach’ for us to listen to and discuss as well. \nDoors open at 7pm and the event will start at 7.30pm\, arrive early to grab a drink and a good seat!

DESCRIPTION:Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests – you play Hockey while walking – and is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the sport\, but still enjoy participating\, showing their skills and being involved in the team and social aspect of the sport. \nThe game is played on a smaller pitch with lighter balls and rules adapted for safety and accessibility. \nWe operate a weekly social mixed game at 6pm on Monday evenings all year round. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome. There’s always laughter and quite often the chance for a social drink afterwards if you feel like it!

DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Town ride via Rowden Park is a FREE cycle ride exploring a route through the town using a combination of quieter back streets and off road connections\, some newly opened. The majority is on quieter streets. \nWe start at Bewley House – the large building between the Railway arches and the Reel cinema\, and end in Monkton Park where we will have FREE refreshments. (You will need to make your own way the short distance from Monkton Park to the start point at Bewley House if you need to). \nThe ride is part of the Big Bike Revival\, and is particularly suitable for adults who are beginners\, improving\, or returning to cycling. Families are welcome to join us. \nThe route explores quieter streets and cycle connections that you may not be familiar with to get around town. \n\nDiscover quieter roads and cycle connections to get around\nExplore part of the new Rowden Park cycle route\nSee the new Station Cycle Hub with a demo of how to use the new cycle racks.\n\nFor Adults wanting to return to cycling or discover safer cycle routes to get across town\nFamilies welcome. Under 18s require a responsible adult. \nApproximately two hours\, partly on quieter roads and partly on shared cycle paths \nPoints of interest:- \nReel Cinema\nIvy Lane School\nnew Rowden Park Cycle route.\nRoute to town centre with improvements planned\nNew Cycle Hub at Chippenham Station\nMonkton Park FREE refreshments \nThe ride takes approximately two hours and utilises quieter roads and cycle links featured on the newly updated Chippenham Cycle Map. \nThe ride is guided by Cycle Chippenham volunteers and has been risk assessed. \nChildren under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. \nAs part of the Big Bike Revival grant criteria we will collect as a minimum a name and email address from adults at the ride event. \nOrganised by Cycle Chippenham in partnership with Cycling UK as part of the Big Bike Revival.

You’ll explore the shapes\, textures\, and tones of trees in their autumn glory\, learning how to capture their beauty in a painting that feels expressive and full of atmosphere. \nWe’ll cover approachable watercolour techniques for painting foliage\, trunks\, branches\, and light\, with guidance on colour mixing and simple composition to help your trees feel alive on the page. Whether you’re drawn to fiery reds and golds\, soft earthy tones\, or misty autumn scenes\, you’ll be encouraged to paint in a way that suits your own style – loose and expressive or more detailed. \nThis session is beginner-friendly\, designed for enjoyment and experimentation rather than technical perfection (though if improving skill is your goal\, I can of course support you with this!). You can choose to paint a single tree\, a group of trees\, or an autumn woodland scene\, and I’ll be there to offer as much or as little guidance as you’d like. \nBy the end of the workshop\, you’ll have your own autumn tree painting to frame\, gift\, or keep as a seasonal memento\, along with an Introduction to Watercolour booklet to help you continue exploring watercolour at home. \nWe’ll have exclusive use of The Waverley’s spacious main upstairs room\, and a complimentary drink of your choice is included in your ticket. \nAll materials are provided (or you’re welcome to bring your own)\, and no prior drawing experience is needed – just curiosity\, cosy autumn vibes\, and a willingness to experiment.
