SUMMARY:A Walk to Remember
DESCRIPTION:Seven-mile charity walk for Alzheimer’s Support and a great day out for the whole family! \nPull on your walking boots and take part in A Walk to Remember on Saturday 8th June. \nIt’s a circular seven-miles through some of North Wiltshire’s loveliest countryside starting and finishing at Bowood Estate at the kind permission of the charity’s patron Lady Lansdowne. \nThe day starts with bacon or veggie butties then\, after a fun group warm-up\, we head out into the beautiful north Wiltshire countryside. Everyone walks at their own pace. You can walk with others\, stride ahead or do your own thing. There are plenty of great views and scenic places to stop for a picnic along the way. And marshals will be on hand to make sure you find your way. \nBack at the estate\, our post-walk celebrations include medals for all the finishers\, commemorative photos\, plenty of tea and cake and chance to relax with other walkers. \nPlease sign up and join us in June – you’ll have a great day out and be walking for dementia with every step.

SUMMARY:Chippenham Art Group
DESCRIPTION:The Chippenham Art Group will meet monthly on Wednesdays in King Alfred Hall\, St Andrew’s Church in Chippenham Market Place. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nOur art groups are friendly\, relaxing\, therapeutic and fun.  People living with dementia and a family carer create their own art projects under Fran’s guidance with projects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection.  No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas. \nFamily carers are welcome at the group as full members and encouraged to join in to create their own pieces of art. Trained volunteers are on hand to lend support as needed.  If you’d like to volunteer at the group\, please call Annie Clayton on 01986 624005 or email Annie. \nIf you’d like to come along as a group member\, or for more information\, please call Pam on 01380 739055\, or book your place on the Alzheimers Support website. \nThis group is kindly part-funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. SUMMARY:Movement for the Mind Chippenham group
DESCRIPTION:The Movement for the Mind group in Chippenham meets fortnightly on Tuesdays. \nThe group offers people living with dementia and a family carer the chance to take part in gentle exercise to music in a supportive and friendly group setting. \nSessions start with a warm-up before moving on to the main activity. Everyone is encouraged to do as much or little as they feel able to and you do not have to be ‘super-fit’ to take part. People with restricted mobility and wheelchair users are welcome.
