SUMMARY:Celebrating 20 Years of "Everything" and 50 Years of Ray Winstone: Special Screening at Kandu Arts Reel Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join an unforgettable evening at the Astoria Reel Cinema in Chippenham on June 7th at 8:00 PM as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed Kandu Arts for Sustainable Development produced film “Everything” (2004)\, starring Ray Winstone and Jan Graveson. This special screening is part of the Kandu Arts Reel Film Festival\, and tickets are available for £5.99 both online and at the door. \nCo-produced by Ed Deedigan of Kandu Arts\, with musical contributions by Damon Albarn\, “Everything” was created to raise awareness of Kandu Arts’ work\, particularly with women involved in the sex industry. The film features real locations in Chippenham and involved local young people\, including those in care\, offering them unique opportunities in film and music production. A highlight of this initiative was the re-recording of the song “Tender” at Damon Albarn’s London studio\, featuring Ray and Lois Winstone alongside two Kandu Arts looked-after young people\, providing them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. \nTo mark this milestone\, the event will also honour Ray Winstone’s remarkable 50-year career in the film industry. The evening will include a special Q&A session with Ed Deedigan of Kandu Arts\, providing unique insights into the making of the film and its impact. \nThe festivities will commence at 7:15 PM with the one-off screening of the 50th Anniversary of the Chippenham Folk Festival Documentary\, produced by Kandu Arts. Entry to the documentary is by donation. \nAt 8:00 PM\, the big screen will come alive with “Everything”\, a film that offers a realistic portrayal of a sex worker’s life and her interactions with Richard\, a deeply troubled character played by Ray Winstone. The film has been praised for its intense and intelligent storytelling\, captivating performances\, and authentic settings. \nEarlier in the day\, young filmmakers from Wiltshire College and beyond will present their new films to an invited audience. Renowned film and music producer Neville Farmer will judge the young filmmakers’ entries and attend the evening screening of “Everything”. \n“Everything” received notable acclaim\, including a BAFTA nomination in 2005 for the Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a British Director\, Writer\, or Producer in their First Feature Film\, the Best Actor Award for Ray Winstone at the Polish Film Festival\, and the Silver Award for Producers at the Cairo Film Festival. \nOne review describes the film as “a tense and intelligent film that deals with a difficult subject. It gives a realistic portrayal of a sex worker’s life as she comes into contact with Richard\, played by Ray Winstone. He is deeply troubled by something he won’t or can’t reveal\, but he persists regardless of the cost to himself.” Another review states\, “The performances were captivating\, the suspense was just right (you never lost interest but weren’t overly stressed either)\, and the setting utterly believable. (NB: the locations were real\, not sets).” \nTo pre-purchase tickets\, visit https://reelcinemas.co.uk/chippenham\nFor more information about Kandu Arts and upcoming workshops\, events and projects\, visit www.kandu-arts.com

DESCRIPTION:A Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget 🎭❤️ \nKandu Arts is bringing a show to Chippenham that promises a whirlwind romance of stories\, chat and laughs about love. Love Stories\, by Mark Rutterford\, promises a Valentine’s Day event like no other and one you’ll never forget. As the audience eats Love Heart sweets\, they will hear tales of love affairs and heartache but like any romantic encounter\, Love Stories is not a passive experience. \nAudience engagement is a big part of the show. It’s the audience that decides who wins the World Cup of Love Songs\, what happens in one story and\, having heard Mark’s best and worst romantic moments\, they’ll be invited to share their own triumphs and disasters. Laughs and empathy are guaranteed. \nThis interactive theatre piece is that latest offering from Kandu Arts\, a Chippenham based company that has been using the arts and activities to explore a wide range of issues and nurture strong relationships within the community for 25 years. \nAn alien reports that he just ‘doesn’t get it\,’ but the 4-Star Review from last year’s Bath Fringe Festival says that you will feel the connection and that you might be beguiled into leaving your cynic at the door. \n“the connection…is what makes the night – during our short time together we become friends hanging out” \nBackground \nMark Rutterford is a writer-performer that has been performing stories across the South West for a decade. Love Stories is Mark’s first solo show – it made its debut at Bath Fringe Festival in May 2023 (4-Stars) and went on to Shaftesbury Fringe in July and Camden Fringe in August last year. The mix of performance\, props\, emotions and audience engagement are key features in the inclusive\, funny and entertaining show Mark wanted to create. He is delighted to be working with Kandu Arts and to be performing in Chippenham for the first time – he hopes to do more of both in future. \nKandu Arts for sustainable development is based in Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, and has worked since 1998 with communities\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach up and down the country.
