DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. Come and enjoy spending time in a calm\, accepting and welcoming environment. \nJoin the sessions in person or online if you’d prefer. \nThe project will run every Thursday from 10.15am-3pm from 20th March to 22nd May. SUMMARY:Oral History Training
DESCRIPTION:Our Oral History training is taking place at The Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre on Monday 20 May\, 10am to 1pm. \nWe will have the opportunity to tour the county archives to see where the full recordings will be stored. We will learn about how to carry out and record a good oral history interview and have time to practice. \nThe session will be led by Ruth Butler from the History Centre and tea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided. \nOnce we have completed our training\, we will talk about how we are going to conduct the interviews for this project and what we are going to do with them. \nThe interviews will take place during June\, July & August and we can use The Calne Heritage Centre as a base for this. I will be coordinating the interviews. A few people have come forward to say they would like to share their stories. If you know of anyone else who would like to talk to us\, please let me know. \nThis training session is free to attend\, but please book your place in advance by emailing emily@yesterdaysstory.co.uk \n
