At a recent meeting, Chippenham Youth Councillors confirmed their interest in night-time safety in Chippenham for young people and have agreed to conduct a survey to gather feedback.
Chippenham Youth Council is comprised of young people aged 10-18 who live or attend school in Chippenham. They meet fortnightly, with an aim of involving the youth of the town in democratic processes.
Their survey is available through Survey Monkey, which you can access HERE, and it will run from 30 November to 31 December. It will also be promoted through the Town Council’s website, social media, and community noticeboards.
Youth Council Chair, Hattie Auld, said:
‘Night safety is a very important issue for young people, particularly in winter as the nights become longer. It’s important that the youth feel and are safe walking home from clubs, when out exercising or socialising. The Youth Council and our peers have both experienced situations where they feel unsafe at night; we want to help make Chippenham a safer place for the youth to be.’
‘This isn’t just a survey for young people to answer; we hope that residents of all ages will provide us with information, whether they are concerned for themselves, their children, their friends, or the wider community.’
The survey results will be published via the Town Council website and shared with relevant local organisations.
