Chippenham Pharmacy and Health Clinic are delighted to announce that we will be offering both NHS and private influenza (flu) and COVID vaccinations again this winter! Our experienced team delivered more than 2,500 vaccinations during the 2023-24 winter season and have increased our appointment capacity for the 2024-25 season to give even more patients the opportunity to ensure that their protection from these illnesses is as up to date as possible. Booking for NHS vaccinations is available from September 23rd 2024, and vaccinations begin on October 3rd 2024.

NHS vaccinations
We will be offering free vaccinations for both flu and COVID through the NHS National Services. The eligibility criteria differ slightly for each of the vaccines- if you aren’t sure about your eligibility, please do contact the pharmacy.
Patients who are eligible for the NHS flu vaccinations include:
- Those aged 65 and over.
- Those living in residential or nursing care facilities.
- Those with breathing conditions such as asthma (with regular inhaled steroid treatment) or COPD.
- Those with heart disease (but not just hypertension)
- Those with diabetes.
- Those with epilepsy and other neurological conditions (e.g. dementia and Parkinson’s disease)
- Those with kidney or liver disease.
- Those with morbid obesity (BMI over 40).
- Those with learning difficulties.
- Those with a suppressed immune system due to disease or treatment and their household contacts.
- Those with a dysfunctional spleen or no spleen.
- Those who are pregnant.
Patients who are eligible for NHS COVID vaccinations include:
- Those aged 65 and over.
- Those living in residential or nursing care facilities.
- Those with breathing conditions such as COPD or severe asthma (where asthma has caused hospitalisation or needed oral steroids twice or more in the last two years).
- Those with heart disease (but not just hypertension)
- Those with diabetes.
- Those with epilepsy and other neurological conditions (e.g. dementia and Parkinson’s disease).
- Those with kidney or liver disease.
- Those with morbid obesity (BMI over 40).
- Those with learning difficulties.
- Those with severe mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia)
- Those with a suppressed immune system due to disease or treatment BUT NOT their household contacts (consider our private vaccination).
- Those with a dysfunctional spleen or no spleen.
- Those who are pregnant.

Private vaccines
For those who don’t fall into an NHS-eligible category, we are offering private vaccinations for both flu and COVID. You may want to keep your protection up to date having not had any COVID vaccines since the initial vaccination run, or may have vulnerable contacts, friends or relatives that you don’t live with or care for but will see regularly and want to keep safe.
- The private COVID vaccine is a Pfizer vaccine and will cost £89.95.
- The private flu vaccine is a quadrivalent (fights four types of flu) Seqirus vaccine that will cost £19.95.
