A major redevelopment is proposed for Emery Gate, marking the largest construction project in Chippenham’s town centre in decades. This project could bring significant changes to the area, shaping the next chapter of the town’s development.
Acorn Property Group formally submitted the planning application to Wiltshire Council in December 2024 and it is now under consultation. Residents and businesses can view the full plans and submit comments as part of the consultation process. Whether you’d like to learn more about the proposals or provide feedback, all planning documents are available online.
Wiltshire Council has published the full planning application, which can be accessed here: Wiltshire Council Planning Portal.
Please note that comments must be submitted via the Wiltshire Council Planning Portal to be officially considered as part of the consultation. Feedback posted elsewhere, including on this website or social media, will not be part of the formal review process.
Planning consultations provide an opportunity for the community to engage with proposed developments, ask questions, and share perspectives before final decisions are made.
Consultation deadline: 5th March 2025

On behalf of Old Baptist Chapel, Chapel Lane, Chippenham.
Re the proposed development of Emery Gate. We are concerned about the probable lack of parking space and that for elderly people who worship with us an underground car park is not suitable, especially as for example the present concrete stair access to the road level on Emery Lane is very hazardous especially in wet weather. Often on a weeknight Borough Parade is completely full around 7pm when we gather if an event is taking place in the Neeld Hall or Town Hall.
Yours sincerely
Pastor Gerald Buss (Old Baptist Chapel)
Hi Gerald – please note for your comment to be considered it needs to be added to the Wiltshire Council planning portal which you can find in the link in the news post above. I hope that helps. Best wishes, Katie, One Chippenham.
