Chippenham Borough Lands Charity is place-based charity that exists to improve the welfare and wellbeing of people living in Chippenham. Rather than replying on fundraising or donations, we use income generated from our historic land and investment endowment to support the local community. In the past three decades, we’ve invested millions back into our community through various grants and initiatives, supporting residents and enhancing town life for everyone.
Our work focuses on three main areas:
Grants – providing financial support to individuals experiencing hardship and to local charities, schools and community organisations delivering projects that benefit Chippenham residents.
Guidance – helping people access support and strengthening the voluntary sector through information, partnerships and community initiatives, including running One Chippenham. Launched in 2020, this website serves as a central hub for local news, events, and support. Created in response to community feedback, it helps residents and local organisations connect and share information about activities and events happening in our town
Great places – stewarding over 70 acres of green spaces throughout Chippenham, including the ancient Mortimores Wood and Baydons Meadow, a haven for wildflowers and wildlife. At Westmead Open Space, we’ve enhanced the area with new tree plantings, a sculpture trail and accessible walking paths.
Westmead Playing Field features The Arc, our state-of-the-art climbing facility run by The Climbing Academy, along with a skatepark and play area, creating a hub for outdoor recreation.
Supporting Individual Needs
We provide targeted support to Chippenham residents who have lived in the parish for at least six months and are experiencing financial hardship. Our individual grants cover essential needs, from white goods and furniture to food vouchers, mobility aids, and educational support.
