2020 marked 150 years since the Rev. Francis Kilvert first began his diaries, now enjoyed across the globe for their enchanting accounts of rural life in Victorian Britain.
Born in Chippenham, Kilvert went on to be curate for his father in Langley Burrell. Explore the shades of Kilvert’s world and the local area through his diary entries.
Featuring two of the three surviving manuscripts, on loan from The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Chippenham Museum is a free entry Chippenham Town Council facility. Open 10am – 4pm Monday to Saturday, visits are drop-in with no need to book.
