The Aye Foure Explorer Scouts who are based in Chippenham have a big say in what they do. With the support, direction and guidance of Unit leaders, the Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves, design their own programme and work towards the awards that they are keen to achieve.
Explorer scouts is open to all 14 to 18 year olds whether or not you have previously been a scout or guide. Derek Yandell, Leader, Aye Foure Explorer Scout Unit said,
“Scouting offers a great opportunity to develop self-confidence and team working skills. We also provide opportunities to participate in local and international camps both at home and abroad and adventurous activities such as climbing, camping and offshore sailing.”
The Aye Foure Explorer Scouts meet from 7.30-9pm Mondays during term time at the 1st Chippenham scout hall on Audley road. During the current difficulties they are meeting outside whenever the weather permits and virtually via zoom meetings in inclement weather.
For more information please contact Derek, the Aye Foure Explore Scout Unit via email.
If you were wondering how The Aye Foure Explorer Scouts got their unusual name – it’s a play on the A4 road which runs through the centre of Chippenham!
