Mindful Art Workshops Receive Funding Boost from Chippenham Lions Club.
Olive Branch Counselling, a Chippenham-based charitable organisation, is pleased to announce that it has received a generous grant from the Chippenham Lions Club to support its ongoing series of mindful art workshops for those who have experienced trauma.
The sessions, designed to support emotional wellbeing through creativity, are open to individuals who are currently receiving counselling through Olive Branch. Past workshops have included relaxing and accessible activities such as marbling, pom-pom making, and line drawing. One recent session introduced a simple but powerful exercise involving a pebble and pen, encouraging participants to reflect on life’s unpredictability while creating meaningful, personal artwork.
The workshop facilitator described the process:
“We placed a small pebble onto the centre of a piece of paper. Using a pen, we pushed the pebble around the space and observed how the pen left its mark — unpredictable and spontaneous. It’s a reminder that while life can feel uncertain, we still have the ability to respond in the moment. We then filled the resulting shapes with patterns of our choosing, taking ownership of the final image.”
Emma Clout, Clinical Manager at Olive Branch Counselling, added:
“These sessions offer a valuable opportunity for clients to focus on their wellbeing, unwind, and express themselves creatively in a safe and supportive environment.”
