Chippenham Film Club February 2026 Screening: Clara Sola (15)

Chippenham Film Club was formed in 2022 to bring films that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. You do not need to be club member to attend but members get discounted tickets.

‘Clara Sola’ is a Costa Rican 2021 drama film (age rating: 15) directed by Nathalie Álvarez Mesén, and starring Wendy Chinchilla Araya in her debut role.

Clara, a 40-year-old woman, is believed to have a special connection with God, as a “healer,” she supports her family and a town in need of hope while finding solace in her bond with nature. After years of being controlled by her repressive mother, Clara’s sexuality awakens when she becomes attracted to her niece’s new boyfriend. This newfound force leads her into unexplored territory, allowing her to cross both physical and mystical boundaries. Empowered by self-discovery, Clara gradually frees herself from her role as a “saint” and begins to heal herself.

Clara Sola was selected as the Costa Rican entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
