History Portal Club: Historical MURDER Club
History Portal Club is becoming Tuesday Murder Club again for our next meeting, on Tuesday 27 October.
We’re going to re-open the case of a coal hawker found deceased in a ditch on the borders of Wiltshire in 1863, which was tried in Chippenham. Two men and a boy were charged with his murder.
The meeting will look at the events and the case from all angles, examining the evidence given at the time, all the people involved, and Wiltshire life in 1863, and whether justice prevailed with the benefit of hindsight.
It’ll be an in-depth and exciting exploration of the sad events of 163 years ago, with lots of discussion and interaction, to see if we reach the same conclusion as the jurors.
Join us at Wine Monkey, 7pm, Tuesday 27 October 2026, for History Portal Club. £10pp members & first time attenders (no obligation to continue attending). £14 drop-in (if you’ve been before & decided not to become a member). Booking essential.
