Do you enjoy working with and supporting children and young people?
Are you free on a Saturday and/or a weekday evening and looking for a rewarding way to spend your time?
If you’re approachable and enthusiastic to help others, why not join a great team of play workers and volunteers by getting involved in our Wiltshire Short Breaks and youth clubs service?
In Chippenham, we offer three clubs for children and young people with additional needs and we’re looking to grow our volunteering team:
- Monday evenings (twice per month, term-time only): 17.00-19.00 Kingfisher club for children and young people aged 8-18 years old with Autism.
- Wednesday evenings (weekly, term-time only): 18.30-20.30 Griffin youth club for young people aged 13-18 years old with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Saturdays (monthly, plus weekdays during the school summer holidays) 10.00-16.00 Short Breaks club for children and young people aged 6-18 years old with complex needs.
Volunteering at any of our clubs includes getting involved in activities such as cooking, arts & crafts, swimming, video games, outdoor play, trips to the cinema, local parks, the fire station and much more.
Joining our volunteering team could be a great way for you to make friends, have fun and gain new skills and experience whilst supporting children and young people in your local area.

I would be interested in volunteering with your organisation.
I presently work as a teaching assistant with a supply agency and have had many placements at SEND schools, which I’ve always found very rewarding.
Hi Sarah – I am sure they would love to hear from you. If you follow the link in the website blog you can find out more information and either apply for a volunteer position or make direct contact with Barnados staff to find out more. Best wishes, Katie, One Chippenham
Hi, my name is Gareth and I’m a firefighter at Chippenham fire station. We just wanted to make our services available to you. We are more than happy to host any of your groups at the station. To just visit and look around, to fire safety engagement and demos.
Please let us know if this is something that your groups would benefit from.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Gareth
