Cepen Lodge Care Home in Chippenham recently presented Chippenham Community Hub with a cheque for £1000 for transport costs for this charity supporting elderly people at risk of social exclusion. Chippenham Community Hub is a local charity, opened during the Covid pandemic, to support local people dealing with health, wellbeing and development of the local town centre. The Community Hub hosts a number of groups and sessions to bring people together, share interests and socialise.
The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.
Senior General Manager, Jade, Activities Team and residents visited the Community Hub and presented the cheque to the manager Ladonna, before joining their Senior Friendship Group and taking part in their quiz morning.
Jade Hodge, Senior General Manager at Cepen Lodge Care Home said:
“We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. We also host a number of events here at Cepen Lodge to reduce social isolation and loneliness for elderly people in our local community, so this is a cause very close to our heart. In addition to the grant from the Barchester Charitable Foundation, Cepen Lodge have also been hosting events to fundraise for the Community Hub, with £420 raised at our Family Fun Day, and an upcoming Summer Bash on the 31st August.”
