Chippenham Museum presents Our History Day at the Town Hall
A Journey from the town’s Prehistory to its Future Plans
Uncover the secrets of your town! Join us at the Town Hall for a special day of discovery, brought to you as part of the ‘Chippenham – Our History’ project, in partnership with the Chippenham Civic Society & the VCH Wiltshire.
When: Saturday 30 May | 10am – 4.30pm
Where: Chippenham Town Hall
Entry: £6 (Includes coffee, tea, and biscuits).
Any profits will be donated to the WVCH fund.
From the ancient geology beneath our feet to the coaching inns, canals, and characters that shaped our streets, hear from a panel of local experts in a series of fast-paced, engaging presentations.
The Day’s Highlights:
Morning (10.30am – 12.30pm): Talks covering Archaeology, Manors, and the Golden Age of Coaching.
Lunch (12.30pm – 13.30pm): A chance to explore the town or chat with fellow history lovers.
Afternoon (13.30pm – 15.30pm): Talks featuring local Railways, Architecture, and the stories behind our Public Houses.
Grand Finale (15.30pm): A full panel Q&A—your chance to ask the experts or share any knowledge you have of our town.!
Speakers include Mike Stone, John Chandler, Tony Pratt, Louise Ryland-Epton, Jack Konynenburg, John Holden, and Melissa Barnett.
Local books will be on sale at this event.
A collection will be made for future VCH publications.
