Wiltshire Sight provides local services for people living with sight loss across Wiltshire and Swindon. They are based out of their hub in Devizes, where you will find their Resource Centre.
Wiltshire Sight are looking for friendly and confident volunteers to join their Telephone Befriending Service to provide a welcome voice and emotional support to local people living with sight loss during this critical period. They say…
“Feeling isolated is a common challenge for people with sight loss, and recent restrictions on personal contact compound the situation even more for those living alone. A friendly voice on the phone on a regular basis can make a huge difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing and ability to access local support and services.
Do you have time to spare? Could you use your skills and experience to help blind and partially sighted people locally? We’d love to hear from you!”
You can find out more about about their Telephone Befriending Service on their website here.
Wiltshire Sight’s Loss Advisors are available Monday to Friday to provide information, advice and guidance on all issues around living with sight loss. As well as telephone support they are able to offer an appointment only face to face service at their resource centre as well as other accessible locations across the county.
Wiltshire Sight remained open during Covid 19 Lockdown, providing information, advice and guidance services over the phone and via email but some of their safe face to face services that operate within the social distancing guidelines have now resumed and they are now able to offer an appointment-based service either in their resource centre, a community hub or in your home. Their Community Sight Loss Advisors are also still available via the telephone or internet.
If you would like to make an appointment please call Wiltshire Sight and they can talk you through the steps they have taken to provide support, information and guidance in a safe way.
