Zero Chippenham is a non-for-profit voluntary group working to combat dangerous climate change and the degradation of our natural environment. The group is in the process of becoming a Community Benefit Society so that it can raise funds for Community Energy projects via grants and public share offers.
Zero Chippenham has five principal working groups:
- Community Energy,
- Sustainable Transport,
- Air Quality,
- Tree planting,
- Community Engagement.
The group runs a Community Solar Panel Discount Scheme and a Tree Planting and Carbon Offset Scheme. During the summer of 2019, its Community Engagement group attended five school fetes, sharing ideas on cutting carbon with parents and pupils. In early 2020, the group organised a Climate Emergency Exhibition and Workshop at Sheldon School, in conjunction with Wiltshire Council. An Electric Vehicle Day at Castle Combe Racing Circuit is currently being planned for the Autumn.
